The September meeting performance was "to honor the memory of our friend and mentor, Robert Motl (1957-2019). He was the founder of our small group, including his wife, Rory Motl. Rob was an award-winning composer and teacher. Under his mentorship our skills and musicality developed further. We miss him greatly.

He was the originator of The Octet Project, and musicians from the Austin Symphony performed under his guidance. A recording was released in November 2017. Sadly, the Project will not see further development that Rob had planned."
